Louis Vuitton - Crimes of Fashion
I love the idea of calling people out on their high fashion crimes, so I have decided to start an ongoing series of articles on this oh-so-funny topic. We’ve all witnessed these crimes before; most often in the case of tasteless celebrities. I wrote about this briefly in an earlier post about the Oscars, and I received a lot of positive feedback from regular readers. Based upon that feedback, I am turning this into a regular series. So…fashion criminals everywhere BEWARE! StyleCynics.com is watching!
One of my all-time favorite designers is Louis Vuitton. They have been solely responsible for some of the most luxurious, cutting-edge styles in the history of high fashion. Imagine then, how surprised I was to discover such a major fashion offence from such a major force in fashion! A few weeks ago, a friend sent me a link to a new Louis Vuitton bum bag. No, this is not a designer sleeping bag for homeless people. LMAO! There must be a joke in there somewhere about slumming it in style… In the US, these are referred to as fanny packs. In the UK, fanny has an entirely different connotation .
This time however, I think the folks over at Louis Vuitton have gone entirely mad. I have a really hard time believing that Marc Jacobs could be responsible for this travesty, but I suppose anything is possible. Perhaps he just had a late night out blasting rails with supermodels and wasn’t thinking straight? Boy, would I have loved to have been a fly on the wall in that design meeting! I am talking about this god-awful creation:

Now, I have seen some serious style violations over the years but this one is beyond the pale of reason and good taste. Why would anyone in their right mind want to strap the spraypainted carcass of a small, furry animal around their waist? Furthermore, who would dare spend thousands of dollars for the (dis)honor? On second thought, some twit like Mary-Kate Olsen would probably love it. In fact…Mary-Kate is a major fashion offender and I assure you that I will be coming back to her in the very near future. You’re in our sights, Byatch!
Frankly, I’m surprised that the fanatics over at PETA didn’t make a big deal about this one. Perhaps none of their celebrity supporters were willing to offend the omnipresent Louis Vuitton, for fear of missing out on the free high end designer fashions they get to wear at big events? Either way, they deserve to be called out on this one. This is one crime of fashion that deserves swift and cruel punishment. Although, we would first have to consider who the guilty party truly is. Is it the designer? Or is it the sad, pathetic soul who purchases the item? The verdict from the judges at StyleCynics.com is in; the consumer is the guilty party. Your sentence? Public execution on these very pages! More soon…
