Corto Moltedo Priscilla Purse
I’m a little confused and sickened when I look at this Corto Moltedo Priscilla purse.
For instance, the distressed denim inspired pale blue leather, the side zipper pockets that sort of resemble saddle bags and the woven leather rope handle with tassels really call to mind a cowgirl western design.
However then we get to the beige insignia fabric strip down the center, and I’m left thinking “what’s up cowgirl”?
Maybe Corto Moltedo wasn’t quite sure when he designed this bag. Did he want spaghetti western or classic signature haute couture? Either way, he does neither well, and this bag ends up looking like a mish mash of clashing design elements. Kind of like Carrie Bradshaw when she pairs a fun and flirty Betsey Johnson tank with a pair of tighty whities in Sex and the City – the two just don’t belong together girl!
The only saving grace for me is honestly the purses handle. It sort of resembles a rancher’s woven whip and there is some definite fun behind it I’m sure, but the fact that this purse comes with a long shoulder strap kind of horsewhips all the fun out of the design.
Bottom line: In my mind the terms Haute and Cowgirl shall never been one.
