Donna Karan Suede Ballerina Flat

For those of us who like a nice flat, be it for taking a walk or simply kicking back and hanging out, have no fear: the designers have heard us. And for me, it’s even better, because this particular Donna Karan flat comes in grey suede. I have to say – I truly adore grey shoes. I adore flats even more, because as a girl who wobbles on the lowest of heels, flats at least ensure that my feet are pretty without me falling on my face. These particular flats are definitely something I would pick up. Their soft grey suede and silver-tone vamp ornament make them equally casual and professional enough for work, and hey – if I’m not feeling the heels on a club night, I might even wear these out then.

Many people wear flats with jeans or even with dress pants. I wouldn’t really suggest wearing these with a skirt unless it’s a long, peasant look, because with today’s shorter skirts, you really need a nice heel to define your legs. The flat gives a lighter look to the feet besides the black and brown utility colors you see; with grey, you can match this with more clothing colors. That’s always good for when you’ve got a dress that you need to perfectly accessorize.

Don’t be fooled, however – just because the shoe doesn’t have a heel, doesn’t mean that the price isn’t going to be designer-worthy. At NeimanMarcus.com , these grey beauties go for $395.00. However, I’d pay that for a sexy pair of grey flats any day.

Looking for something a little more grey than the Karans (and a bit cheaper)? These California Magdesians, named Mary, have a smoky-grey suede coloring with a black patent leather trim. They even have a cute little grey bow, although that’s hardly what makes the shoe. For those that like open toes, the Marys come with a peep toe and a padded insole. The best part is that they’re light – each shoe weighs no more than five ounces. Find them at Zappos.com for $98.95.

If you want something really comfortable, try the NaNa Women’s Faye Square-toed Flat. This is a bit different than other shoes, but it certainly doesn’t look ugly. The upper is made of silk and the toe is snubbed, so if you like a pointy toe, but need some room for your own toes, this shoe delivers. $39.89 at Endless.com.
