Givenchy Open Toe Lace Up Sandal

As a rule of thumb, I’m not overly impressed with most lace-up sandals, simply because most of them are quite ugly. However, I had to change my mind when it came to the Givenchy Open Toe Lace Up Sandal, because really, this shoe is amazing. It’s got a four-and-a-half-inch heel, a patent leather lace-up upper, and a thin ankle strap with a silver buckle. As well, although it resembles its cousins the lace-up bootie, it has none of their frumpiness. Wow!

I personally love the thin lacing all the way up the foot; it’s classy and fabulous. The ankle strap really didn’t thrill me at first, but the more I look at it, the more I actually like it. I think the reason why I’m so attracted to these shoes is the fact that they combine a slightly conservative look with something sexy and strappy. Unlike the heeled Oxfords, these shoes actually work. Maybe it’s because all the shoe parts are actually the same. The insole’s even padded for extra comfort, and jeez, you’ll need it walking in heels this high.

I really think that you could wear these shoes with almost anything, be it business clothing or even just couture jeans. I could even see these with a little miniskirt. Anything goes, which is great. Because it’s Givenchy, and because these shoes are nothing short of awesome, of course, they’re going to be expensive. However, these ones just may be worth it. I found these shoes for $625.00 at Barneys.com.

Okay, seriously? Plaid? Well, apparently yes – these Zinc Plaid booties are in style and have a bit of a school-girl/runway look that’s surprisingly attractive. I really like the bright red laces against the black and plaid upper. The shoe has a four-and-a-quarter-inch heel and a platform sole. Funky, sexy, and ultimately eye-catching, for sure. Find them for $98.95 at Zappos.com.

Here’s another lace-up number that closer resembles the horrid heeled Oxford than anything else, but I really don’t find them that bad. The Report Signature Women’s Vita pump has a leather upper with a lace-up enclosure, cut out detailing on the upper and a peep toe. The stiletto heel is a soaring three and a half inches. Beautiful. I only have one beef with this shoe – it needs a little more cut-out detailing to make it really amazing. Endless.com has them for $184.95.
