Michael Kors Lolita Open-Toe Pump

Hey, didn’t you know? Lolita is in! This cute, yet chic style was inspired by Vladimir Nabokov’s famous novel about a teacher and his student, and the clothes and shoes are reminiscent of a more innocent era. That doesn’t mean, however, that they can’t be sexy, and Michael Kors has hit the mark again with his open-toed pumps that do justice to the whole Lolita movement. These are just delicious – the grey leather and patent leather trim are pinked to add a little texture to this three and a half wedge heel shoe. The shoe’s got a platform sole, so if you’re height-challenged (like me), you can add more than just the promised three and a half inches to your stature. However, the best part about this pump for me is how the puckered leather gives way to an open toe, which provides a little intrigue to an otherwise straightforward seventies’ style pump. The finishing touch, and the signature of the Lolita fashion movement, is a small black bow on the vamp.

Too cutesy for you? Not when you can wear these pumps with a killer power suit or a pencil skirt and business-like blouse. But, if you want to do justice to actual Lolitas (and they can be a little odd), why not wear these shoes with a bit of a school-girl style? I could see these with a little black-and-white kilt, knotted white blouse and maybe a pair of designer glasses to complete the look. The best thing about Lolita style, however, is that anything cutesy definitely goes. And compared to Kors’ other offerings, these pumps ring in at $129.99 at MichaelKors.com .Leather for cheap is always a good decision.

Are you looking for a cheaper version of Lolita style? These RSVP pumps have a slightly higher heel at four inches, but no open toe. However, the two-tone leather and chic adjustable strap still give the essence of Lolita at a cheaper price. You can find these pumps for $79.95 at Zappos.com.

Want a slingback version? These Caparros Women’s Payton Pumps have a silky black slingback, open toe and elegant bow with a crystal ornament on the vamp – just enough to go Lolita, but not so much that you can’t wear them to any evening occasion. The best part about them is that they’re only $29.89 at Endless.com. Not leather, but still beautiful!
